Flakpanther by Dru-Zod Flakpanther by Dru-Zod
A 1/35 kit. This version has the twin 5.5 cm guns. As far as I know,no Flakpanthers were ever used.

Very interesting model, panther was a late addition to wehrmacht but it certainly put some fear to all tankers in the field:D
Putting a twin 5.5 gun instead of the 75 anti tank is an interesting choice, personally i find wirbelwind adequete for the anit air duty with the flak 88 support.
Maybe that 5.5 gun can be used on some lighter armored targets at closer ranges ?
Even tough it may not penetrate it may couse spalling effect on the inside of an enemy tank(for example a t-34-76 or a sherman (i am sure those 5.5 are he for anti air duty so that it can couse this effect)
Anyway it is a nice model and i definetely loved the tracks.
Keep up the good work :D

Thanks. :) I think these 5.5mm could have done some great damage on medium tanks.

"No Flakpanthers were used" cuz it wasn't cost/benefit effective for Germany putting twin AA guns in a medium tank chassis.

Looks great!
did you kit bash it? or was this a full kit?

Great work on the tracks and your dusty weathering looks fantastic as usual. The weathering on the bogies really makes the detail stand out.

This was a kit from Dragon Models.I did replace the barrels however. The kit barrels really sucked.

This type of variant never saw combat as far as I know. We modelers call something like this a paper panzer.

So this is how would Flakpanzer V look, if it was introduced to service.

Which company released this kit ?

This is one of the variants that was proposed. There was also a twin 3.7cm,and a quad 2cm mount. This is an older Dragon Models LTD.kit.
